Asperger's World

Today was not the best of days for my son.My son is an aspie. We all know that many children do not understand aspie's, and that things they do not understand usually cause fear. To often fear turns to meanness. Our children did not ask to be born this way, why would anybody choose to make their life harder? But our children are here! They are part of our future! The world needs to deal with this.Peoples ignorance can cause so much unneeded pain. After all these years of people being different why have we not moved past this? Our children need to be acknowleged for who they are! To be accepted for who they are! I want my son to know that I am very proud of you for going to school everyday and trying your best. So many of our kids walk that fine line every day of norm vs aspie.Trying to fit in with norm's is not an easy thing to do for an aspie. To all of you who struggle with the worlds ignorance of aspie's; I ask that we all try to spread the word and change the way other's view our children! ! Our children have all the same right's as the other's! Let's see that they get enforced and supported! Let us all tell our children how proud we are of them and support them in every way! The change needs to start somewhere and I know we can do it! Rember that National Autism Awareness is April 2 !!!! Let us support our children. Maybe some day the labels norms and aspies will be a thing of the past and that all the children will be treated the same regardless of the differences-any thing is possible!

Hello Benjamin,

My son is 9 years old and has aspergers. I'm trying to understand him. I love him to death but I need help for myself to understand what's going on in his head. You have dealt with this your entire life, can you give me advice so I can have to wisdom and understanding. I figure you can help me out better than someone who doesn't know what it feel like. Please help me or even contact me through private messaging. Thanks much!

I agree, I have aspergers myself and suffer from peoples ignorance all the time. I was bullied all through grade school and didn't really have any friends. My parents aren't even very accepting and understanding of me and it makes me depressed. I wish my parents were supportive of me like you are of your son : (
