I wanted to update everyone on the bully situation from Jerry's birthday party last Saturday.
I felt more and more like I really needed to confront my friend about Max's behavior at the party. So I called her yesterday and we spoke. The sad part is that, though Max admitted to biting, not pinching Jerry (explains the ugly mark on his arm), he denied everything else, even with me right there on the phone and his mom putting him on the spot. And he denied it calmly

Ok friends, I went to bed last night leaving you all with a half truth, which I guess is simply a lie, no matter how you look at it. I told you all Jerry's birthday party was tons of fun yesterday and well, it was for most of the kids/people there. But Jerry did not have as good a day as he could have. And after crying myself to sleep last night and tossing and turning all

We found a great park in Lakeland off South Florida and Edgewood. It's called Common Ground. It's covered in astroturf so no worries of ants or mud, great for kids who hate getting dirty. It has a sand pit, a rock climbing wall, s

My son has Asperger's and I am going through a divorce. My lawyer wants to show the judge how much time it takes and how much time is dedicated to raising a child with Asperger's. Although I can tell him how much time it takes I need to show him documentation. Can someone tell me a good website that will answer this question or can you speak from experience so I can print it out and my lawyer can show the judge. It is hard for me to work because of all the time it takes. I'm sure you all underst…

First, here is a picture of Jerry in his new glasses.

How cute is he, really?!!
Now, a hopeful solution to the smelling everything dilemma. My special thanks to my friend Melinda for this idea. I bought a pill holder and put cottonballs scented with different things inside each of the seven compar…

I have to preface my eye exam story with some new info. on Jerry. He has been on Zoloft for over a year now for obsessive compulsive type behaviors, sniffing things, repeatedly touching things in certain ways, having to watch the same movies over and over again, repeating phrases, etc... I asked the neurologist the last time we saw her if we could try weaning him from it now and she gave us the go-ahead to cut him down by half a pill for the next three months, one month at a time, until he was o…

CONFESSIONS OF AN ASPERGER’S, ADHD, OCD TEEN’S MOM
Did you ever wonder what it would be like to just have a normal teen? ( and no, I’m not trying to channel Andy Rooney nor do I mean any disrespect by using the term "normal"..it's all relative...I should say Regular ED). But I'd just love to have the opportunity to have a teen who would... could babysit your younger children, help out around the house and drive themselves where ever they need to go? Yeah, I know that’s an unrealistic view of a…

Well, genetic testing was today. Five hours of driving to St. Pete, going over our families' histories of illnesses (as far as we knew or could remember), a physical exam for Jeremiah and rundown of his complete medical history, including every doctor or specialist he'd ever seen and why. Thank goodness I'm so anally organized and have a 3-ring binder with dividers full of "stuff about Jerry".
This was followed by a trip to the lab to test Jerry's urine and blood...six vials full of it! He was…

I love Christmas. I really do. But with a child on the spectrum, I do not love all of the busyness, rush, and changes in routine. They cause unavoidable meltdowns. Despite the few we had this year, Jerry faired rather well and had a wonderful Christmas. We didn't force him to participate in any parties, choir pr…
