Hi Shelli, Just a quick one cause I have to go fill out paperwork. Thanks for your post and support. I finished the last 7 weeks of Justins school last year at home because he ran away from the school I after trying to take him back I realized I couldn't do it to him anymore. We accomplished qutie a bit of his work in the first 4 weeks then he fell apart on me at home, refusals, yelling screaming, hitting me and throwing things at me. I have two older children of my own (23 and 21) and one older step son (21) and then Justin (10). My eldest is a teacher. I am used to the idea of homeschooling because my brother and sister in-law homeschooled till their girls reached 9th grade. their oldest just graduated this year (smart kids) I would love to homeschool Justin however he has been having more and more difficulties learning and I feel that this school for Autism that we are going to get him in will give support to him in all the areas he needs. If it turns out that we can't get him in there then homeschooling it will be. even if I have to use the school system for therapies and then teach at home. Also I replied to my original post stop by and read it sometime, maybe there is more you could add to what I already doing. Thanks again for your support and listening to my babbling. AND yes I would like to be added to your friend list.

I was just curious, because I found this school in Texas that was for Aspergers children only. I bet it is real expensive, not to mention I live in West Virginia, That is quite a distance LOL.

I was looking at you photos, and I was wondering is that a school just for Aspergers children? If so I really wish we had something like that in my city. I was just curious because the class seems to be small.

HI Shelli. Thanks for welcoming me to Asperger World. I know what you mean about it being scarier for the person with AS. My son Carl finds lots of things to be scary that my daughter (NT) Elisabeth finds not to be. I feel badly sometimes for him. However, I think he feeds off my anxiety for him, so I try to be nonchalant about lots of things that he "thinks" are scary. Once he does them though, he is glad he tried and no longer feels frightened of the experience. Sometimes we need to do it over and over, leaving some time between experiences, but he eventually overcomes his fears.

Hi Shelli. Thanks for the comment. I haven't been on here in a while either. My husband came home from deployment a little over a week ago, so we have all been adjusting. I hope you are doing well!

We are still in the process of looking at all our options but time is running out. Thanks for adding me as your friend. My daughter puts away her barbie dolls every once an a while and now she wants to play with them again. She also has her baby dolls. I dont think its bad for her to play with them still. My other daughter is out of that stage . It makes her happy and on our road trip this week the other daughter was helping Christy do her baby dolls hair. I agree with you that our children are a blessing and a miracle from God. Christy is funny and smart and loves to read and write stories all the time. They are a great joy to read.

Thank you so much Shelli. I have felt like I'm at a loss because I don't want her to feel left out. It's been hard having my husband deployed, so I get no one on one time with her. We do our "special book time" at night after my son goes to bed, but I feel as if that isn't enough. He will be home soon, so hopefully her feeling of being left out will go away. Take care...Jennifer

I originally wrote this blog and posted it for my family members on myspace to help them understand what Asperger is and how it affects my daughter.
I am writing this blog for those of you who know and unconditionally love my daughter, Amanda, but wonder why it is that she does some of the things that she does. It is because she has a disorder called Asperger Syndrome. I have collected the following information from the many different websites available on this disorder.
