If your like me, and looking for friends with Aspergers, and help with anything related to us with Aspergers, come check out this group that meets in NC, there is no cost and no obligation. Call Jan Kay at 704-450-0532 for additional info. she is heading up this "group" and is very knowledgeable on Aspergers. I know her well, and I am part of this group. There is no catch, no traps. We are just adults with Aspergers.

I need a new career. I would like to match myself better to my next career, I need help with this. Has any one here have tips for helping Aspergers individuals to match themselves to a career?..are there assistance programs available, is there help from agencies and individuals who understand Aspergers?

I was diagnosed with Asperger´s Syndrome one year ago. I don´t have a lot of friends. Nearly always I am at home. I am happy that I found this website and found new friends.

I was diagnosed with Asperger's when I was 9. People sometimes tell me that that's old to be diagnosed, but I tell them that it's not. Even though I was diagnosed professionally when I was 9, I didn't actually start to research my condition until I was around 16. That's when I finally started to understand why I was different. This research did answer a lot of questions for me. Before then, people at school would ask me about why I was different and I just didn't know what to tell them. They didn't realise that it was just as hard for me to understand as it was for them. My research gave me more confidence.

I am an adult with aspergers who has been recently been diagonised. I have been very difficult to live with although I have been married to the same woman for 44 years. I have lied to her, been unfaithful, and ignored her needs for most of our marriage. We are trying to put things back together, if possible, and I would appreciate any comments or suggestions.

My therapist and I agree that I most definitely have Asperger's, and even though I knew it before from things I'd read (and I'm a pretty obvious case), I'm having trouble accepting the diagnosis. Not in believing it, I definitely believe it's accurate. But just in accepting the finality that yes, indeed, I was right, my doctors agree, I have this and it's why I've been the way I am for my whole life. Has anyone ever experienced that feeling of "I really don't want this!" ? I see ordinary people out doing ordinary things and interacting in ways that to them seem easy and obvious but it just doesn't work for me. I feel like an alien sometimes. We need Planet Aspie!

I am an adult with AS. I had known that I was different all my life and had been searching for the reason. I finally saw an article on AS in the Sunday newspaper and said - that's me. AS has caused problems in my career and married life. My wife of 30 years is a saint to still be married to me. But the strange part is, I don't want to give up my different way of looking at life. I'm glad this group exists - it's a start.

I've known I was different all of my life, but I had no idea how different until the last few years when I actually tried to fit into the world and fell flat on my face. I'm 42 years old, "officially" diagnosed this year but I've known for a while, just had to hear it from my psychologist to make it really sink in. I can't stand to be around people for long, can't really interact with them in any way that resembles what I see neurotypical people acting, and have always preferred being alone. I need to know more about this and I would love to talk (or at least communicate online, anyway) with people who live with this as adults. I'm scared by it and intrigued at the same time...I like to know what's going on in my mind. I wish I knew why I was this way...I'd give the world to be like "normal" people who just talk and live in the world and don't even think twice about it. If they only realized how lucky they are!
