Asperger's World

I saw the clinical psychologist today. Everything lined up. The IQ and personality tests supported the diagnosis. As well as the life details I've been chewing on for the last 3 months.

I don't think I can put to words the experience of being able to make total sense of 31 years of confusion. This discovery is the biggest event of my life. As of today I can stop analyzing my past, and start planning what I want to accomplish with the 2nd half of my life.

I'd like to thank everyone who read my huge and semi coherent posts back when I first discovered AS and was supportive.

Joshua

Hi Josh, I am really glad that you at last have a firm diagnosis, which you suspected all along. I know that for my son, at 20 it was a relief to have a diagnosis. He stopped being so hard on himself for his lack of social understanding. I expect that you have already taught yourself many strategies for coping with people and social situations. My son, although still struggling with some of life's basics, has been able to 'mentor' and encourage a younger guy at his art college who also has aspergers and who was struggling. Perhaps this is something you will find you can do, Josh. I think you have written some encouraging posts on here already. All the best.

Hey!! Congrats!! Your are already through your childhood, and you made it.. Just look at it as.. You have the gift of fine detail, you are way more interesting than your nerotypical peers...Like you asked. What do you do with the second half of your life? I will tell you what you do.. You are smarter than probably anyone around you, more than likley you analize things to the max.... Get a furthur education and become whatever your like... {On the side can you find us a cure, or an answer?? It is going to take an Aspie to cure an Aspie}... By the way, I am going to go and read your "semi Coherent posts..." I will bet you were more coherent than most blogs I have read, I can assume you added much detail.. It would be as if we were walking in your life.. So long and good luck... Have to go and check out your previous blogs....

I think it takes a great deal of courage to get that diagnosis...good for you. We've all got issues to deal with, but it takes a real man or woman to own up and begin to set goals for the future.

I'm glad you have been diagnosed. I was diagnosed 3 years ago, and yes, the diagnosis is the biggest even of an aspie's life. Your life and thoughts and actions have an explanation now.

hey Joshua, with you all the way, and sending out positive vibes for you...I was 33 when I got diagnosed, and it changed everything, absolutely everything. It was surreal, emotional, nerver wracking, nail biting, hair pulling, and absolutely carthartic running that gauntlet you've just run. Lots of luck...
