Asperger's World

On the recommendation from our OT we purchased Austin a SPIO suit last week and he has been wearing everyday since. He loves it and I think it does help him feel better in his body. A SPIO suit is a Stabilizing Pressure Input Othrosis. It's a thick Lycra Spandex material that fits snuggly on your child under their clothing and if your Aspie like mine loves pressure they will get great use out of this product, although it is pricey it was well worth the money spent in my opinion. If you have any other questions just let me know.

Hi Vickie, The SPIO website is http://www.spioworks.com/ they are local to my area so I was able to go to the office and have it sized there, however you can see from the website that you can order them online by measuring them yourself. They also make custom sizes for you if the standard sizes aren't a match. They will work with insurances if yours will cover it, ours does not. Austin puts his on when he gets dressed in the morning and then wears it all day until bedtime. We will have to see what will work come summertime with the heat issue, although they are breathable. Hope that helps.

Sorry I haven't been on the site for awhile and just noticed this. We live in Wa and they are made locally so we got ours from Kent Children's Therapy. It was around $200 I believe and if your kiddo likes deep pressure like mine than they will love it!
